Introduction

Peshawar Zalmi is a Pakistani franchise T20 cricket team, which plays in the Pakistan Super League and represents Peshawar the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwah which is province of Pakistan. The team is owned by Javed Afridi, CEO of Haier Pakistan and also owns Benoni Zalmi franchise in Global T20 League of South Africa.The team was established in 2015 following the announcement of inaugral PSL by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Darren Sammy is nowadays captain from Oct 2016 and Muhammad Akram is the head coach.

2016 Season

Peshawar began their 2016 season well, winning their first two matches. After a loss to Quetta Gladiators the team went on to win six of the eight group stage matches and qualified for the play-offs. They also finished first in the table.
Peshawar first qualifier match was against Quetta, which was thriling match as Quetta scored 133 and Peshawar in reply scored 132 runs and Quetta won the match by just 1 run. Due to the first rank in group table Peshawar has second chance to play second qualifier against Islamabad United and Peshawar lost that one too.
Wahab riaz was leading wicket taker with 15 wickets while Tamim Iqbal(Ban) was leading run scorer with 267 runs for team.

2017 Season

In this season Peshwar Zalmi began their tournament with a loss to Islamabad United and then win against Karachi kings which was the confidence booster for team, and Peshawar won 5 matches out of 7 with 1 no result match in group stages and finishes at the top in rankings table. As they have qualified for qualifiers, they were now supposed to play against Quetta Gladiator and loss by just 1 run, then we have second chance again against Karachi Kings which Zalmi's won by 24 runs.
Then the final of PSL2 Quetta Gladiators Vs Peshawar Zalmi, that day was sunday and the final was in Lahore(Pakistan) and that was the dream for Pakistani's to see their players playing infront of them after the tragic accident back in 2009. The match started at about 8:00 Pm in Gaddafi Stadium Lahore and was great match, Peshawar Zalmi was first batting and they scored 148/6 in 20 overs and then Quetta came to bat and scored only 90 runs for 10 wickets in just 16.3 overs bowled.Peshwar Zalmi won the PSL 2.Darren Sammy was Player of the match (The Captain) and Kamran Akmal was the Player of the Series or tournament (Wicketkeeper Batsemen).
